Mount Nancar wilderness retreat is a private property uniquely situated within the Daly River conservation area.

The retreat has absolute Daly River frontage on a bend in the river with river views and access to the flowing freshwater of the river.

The retreat has direct access to the Daly River conservation area that contains several natural Eco systems including wetland billabongs, rain, savannah and riparian forest, rocky escarpment and fresh water river environments all located within a short distance of each other.

The diversity of environments provides habitats for a wide range of fauna and flora in this secluded destination.

The property and surrounding area has historical significance in the Northern Territory and there is evidence of earlier times and people to see and hear about.

At the Daly River crossing six kilometres down stream of the retreat there is the district Police station (our nearest neighbours) and the Daly River roadside inn.

The aboriginal community of Nauiyu is eleven kilometres downstream of the retreat and has a sealed airstrip and a professionally staffed medical clinic. There is a small supermarket, postal agency, catholic church and a mechanical workshop with fuel supply. There is an indigenous art gallery where art can be viewed and purchased.

Mount Nancar wilderness retreat is an environmentally aware tourist establishment with a focus on Eco tourism, our activities are low impact on the environment, we minimize the use of vehicles in the property and surrounds and use renewable energy to provide electrical power to the retreat.

The retreat has an adult (18+) only, no pets, traps, nets or firearms policy.
